Scaling ACR’s Healthcare Engineering Capacity Through Remote Engineering Support

Expanded healthcare engineering capacity through a remote multidisciplinary team supporting .NET, AI/ML, front-end, and back-end development

Project Overview

Enfin Technologies supported ACR by providing a remote, multidisciplinary engineering team across .NET, AI/ML, front-end, and back-end development. The engagement expanded ACR’s delivery capacity, aligned remote specialists with its existing engineering workflows, and offered a scalable, commercially viable way to supplement its existing capabilities.

About the Client

The American College of Radiology (ACR), founded in 1923 and headquartered in Reston, Virginia, is a leading professional medical society representing more than 39,000 members. ACR supports quality and safety in medical imaging through accreditation, clinical guidance, data registries, research, and initiatives such as the ACR Data Science Institute, which advances the responsible use of AI in radiology.

Objective

ACR sought to strengthen engineering capacity across its healthcare technology initiatives, including the ACR Data Science Institute and the National Radiology Data Registry. Enfin’s remote engineering support model offered a practical way to add specialised capability, work alongside ACR’s existing teams, and maintain momentum across roadmap priorities.

The engagement required .NET, AI/ML, front-end, and back-end specialists who could integrate effectively with ACR’s workflows and operate within the security, privacy, accessibility, and interoperability requirements applicable to their assigned work.

Challenges

ACR required a flexible way to supplement its existing engineering capacity with healthcare-experienced specialists while maintaining delivery continuity, close collaboration, and commercial viability.

ACR needed to onboard skilled engineers who could work effectively within healthcare technology requirements, including applicable interoperability standards, accessibility expectations, and regulated clinical workflows.

ACR also required engineers proficient in modern technologies, including .NET 8, Python, PyTorch, React, and cloud-native architectures, to support the continued growth, security, and competitiveness of its platforms.

Solution: Enfin’s Remote Engineering Support Team

Enfin Technologies assembled a remote healthcare engineering team around three delivery priorities:

Engineering Support: Enfin provided .NET, AI/ML, front-end, and back-end engineering resources who were integrated into ACR’s established workflows and sprint cadence.

Engagement Management: A dedicated Engagement Manager coordinated with ACR’s engineering leadership to support onboarding, delivery alignment, communication, and timely resolution of engagement-level issues.

Scalable Delivery Model: A remote engagement with strong U.S. time-zone overlap gave ACR the flexibility to extend engineering capacity while maintaining close coordination with its existing teams and delivery priorities.

Why ACR Chose Enfin

  • Commercial Flexibility: The remote engagement model enabled ACR to access specialised engineering capability through a commercially viable structure that complemented its existing teams and delivery model.

  • Healthcare Technology Alignment: Engineers were selected to work within ACR’s healthcare technology environment and follow the security, privacy, accessibility, interoperability, and delivery requirements applicable to their assigned work.

  • Speed of Implementation: Enfin coordinated resource onboarding, documentation, and environment access with ACR to help the selected engineers begin contributing quickly after engagement commencement.

Results

Collaborative Capacity Expansion: Enfin’s engineers worked alongside ACR’s existing teams, contributing specialised expertise across roadmap priorities while integrating with established delivery workflows.

Sustainable Delivery Support: The remote engagement model enabled ACR to maintain access to specialised engineering capability as roadmap priorities evolved, while preserving delivery continuity and close collaboration with its existing teams.

Seamless Collaboration: A dedicated Engagement Manager coordinated closely with ACR’s engineering leadership and relevant stakeholders, supporting delivery alignment, communication, and timely resolution of engagement-level issues.

Conclusion

The partnership expanded ACR’s access to healthcare-aware engineering capability across .NET, AI/ML, front-end, and back-end development. Through structured onboarding, close delivery coordination, and integration with ACR’s established workflows, Enfin provided specialised capacity that supported evolving roadmap priorities while working alongside ACR’s existing engineering teams.
