Introduction

KIMS Hospital is a leading healthcare provider with a presence in the Indian state of Kerala. They offer a wide range of medical services, including general medicine, paediatrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, and more. KIMS Hospital has expanded its presence and has several branches across the globe. The hospital has branches in major cities in India, as well as in other countries such as the UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The hospital is also a major teaching institution and is involved in the training and development of medical students and healthcare professionals.

The Problem

KIMS Hospital faced a common issue in the nursing industry: a high attrition rate. The high turnover rate of nursing staff made it difficult for the hospital to maintain a stable workforce. This presented a significant challenge when it came to finding and hiring the right nursing talent.

The recruitment process at KIMS Hospital was a manual one, which included various stages such as:

  • Candidate registration
  • Initial shortlisting based on degree marks
  • Time allocation for test
  • Assessment on OMR sheets
  • Manual evaluation of answer sheets
  • Shortlisting for interviews
  • Entering interview marks in different departments
  • Shortlisting the final candidates

This process was time-consuming and prone to errors. It took 2-3 days to complete, and there were often errors in the final results. These errors affected the final results and led to wrong hirings. Also, they not only wasted valuable time and resources but also resulted in a less-than-ideal candidate being hired.

The Solution

Designing and developing a custom web application for nurse assessment and recruitment process

To address the recruitment challenges at KIMS Hospital, we conducted a thorough analysis of their existing recruitment process. This included identifying the key pain points and bottlenecks in the process and assessing the areas that needed the most improvement. Based on our analysis, we identified the need for an automated recruitment platform that would streamline the entire recruitment process and eliminate errors. The platform would also need to be user-friendly and easily accessible to both candidates and hospital staff.

After completing the business and process analysis, we began the design phase. We designed a custom web application that would automate the recruitment process and make it more efficient. The design included a user-friendly interface that would allow candidates to register and take the assessment easily. The platform also included features such as:

  • Auto shortlisting based on preferred criteria such as education, experience, and qualifications
  • Online assessment timing allows candidates to take the test at the allocated time
  • Automatic evaluation of online assessment
  • Shortlisting of candidates based on their performance in the assessment
  • Allocating interview timing to the shortlisted candidates

We then moved on to the development phase, where we began to build the custom web application using the latest technologies and frameworks. The platform was developed to be fully responsive, ensuring that it could be accessed from any device. We also made sure that the platform was secure and protected against any potential threats.

Once the development was completed, we deployed the platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This ensured that the platform would be highly available, scalable and secure, and able to handle the expected traffic.
